People to receive fewer food stamps beginning November 1st

Posted: Updated:

Beginning this Friday people who rely on food stamps will receive less money for groceries.

The cuts, amounting to about 5 billion dollars, will affect millions of low income individuals who currently receive food stamps.

The USDA says the average monthly benefit is about 275-dollars per household, but come November 1st, that figure will be cut by 36-dollars for a family of four.

The cuts are the result of the expiration of the 2009 Recovery Act.

So far, there is no current legislation to change this.
