Randall Reed sentenced to life in prison for murder of 70-year-old Jane Stokes
An East Ridge man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the murder of a 70-year-old woman. Randall Reed was sentenced in Judge Rebecca Stern's courtroom Tuesday morning.
Reed was found guilty of murder and aggravated robbery for the June 15, 2011 murder of 70-year-old Jane Stokes. A month before the murder took place, Reed was hired by Stokes to build a fence at her home. He knew Stokes lived alone. Stokes suffocated to death after Reed zipped tied her hands together and wrapped her head in cellophane. Hours after the murder, he was captured on an ATM surveillance camera using Stokes' debit card.
Channel 3 spoke with Stokes' granddaughter, who was set to move in with her just days before the murder, about the outcome of the case. Hear from her on Eyewitness News at 5 & 6.
