KNOXVILLE (News Sentinel) -

A former University of Tennessee Foundation chief is expected this week to admit he went perusing the Internet in search of photographs of "young naked boys" when he found actually molesting children too risky, court records show.

U.S. District Court records show Bruce O. Downsbrough has struck a deal to plead guilty to child pornography charges. He is set to officially plead guilty on Wednesday, those records show.

Downsbrough was already a convicted pedophile when he was hired in 2003 to head up the UT Foundation, a fundraising arm of the university, but the foundation did not conduct a background check before hiring him.

UT officials have said they did not conduct such criminal checks on employees whose jobs did not include contact with students. That policy has since changed.
