Fire crews responded to a house fire in Chickamauga late Monday night.

Crews responded to 200 Lee and Gordon Mill Road just after 11 p.m. on a structure fire.

The home was undergoing renovation and was unoccupied. The family was staying in a camper in the back yard.

Officials say they were across the street at a gas station when they noticed smoke and flames from the side of the house.

Firefighters had the blaze out by 3 a.m. Tuesday. Crews believe it started in the basement. The inside was heavily damaged and likely a total loss.

Officials don't think the fire is suspicious, but the cause is under investigation.
