Police and fire pension task force meet to discuss DROP

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Seats filled up quickly at the second meeting hosted by the Police and Fire Pension Task Force.

Monday night, community members packed the room where the task force went over officers and firefighter's benefits, specifically their deferred retirement option program, known as 'Drop'.


Chattanooga's Drop plan allows officers and firefighters to continue working three years after the 25 years and then take a lump sum payment.

Since the Drop was created there have been 316 payments, totaling 31 point 4 million dollars..

The task force will meet again in November.
