The first reading of the proposed ordinance is currently scheduled for Tuesday, November 12th at 6:00pm.

Tennessee cities Collegedale and Knoxville have already added domestic partner benefits for city employees.

Collegedale was the first city in the state of Tennessee to extend employee benefits to domestic partners.

In June this year, the United States Supreme Court ruled that same sex couples can receive federal benefits.
