VIDEO: Harrison home destroyed in early morning fire

Posted: Updated:
HARRISON, TN (WRCB) -

Firefighters responded to a fully involved house fire in Harrison Monday morning.

Crews responded to the 7400 block of Woodland Bay Drive around 4:35 a.m. Monday. The home as well as vehicles near the house were on fire.

Firefighters attacked the fire defensively to keep it from spreading and sprayed down neighboring homes as well.

Highway 58, Tri-Community, Hamilton County EMS and the Hamilton County Sheriff Department responded to the scene.

The home is destroyed as well as five vehicles. A neighbors vehicle parked about 15 yards from the house was among the cars destroyed.

Three adults and one infant made it out safely.

"The structure inside had already collapsed on itself. There was debris in the way of the flames and that makes it even more difficult to fight. That's why we were putting foam on it," said Volunteer Firefighter Brian Stearns.

Volunteer Firefighter Brian Stearns was among almost 30 other volunteer firefighters that answered the call for help early Monday morning.

"We get woken up in the middle of the night, get dressed, have to drive to the station, and some people live a mile from the station, other people live 3 or 4 miles from the station," he said.

Officials say the family woke to the smell of smoke and found parts of the house on fire. The family told officials they went to bed with a fire burning in the fireplace.

Damage is estimated around $350,000.
