Baylor volleyball finishes state runner-up in DII-AA
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WRCB) -- Baylor volleyball upset the defending champs once this week in Murfreesboro, but the Lady Red Raiders couldn't repeat the feat a second time.
St. Agnes rallied back from the loser's bracket to win its second straight state championship with a 3-0 sweep of Baylor in the Division II-AA state final Friday afternoon at Middle Tennessee State University.
The Lady Red Raiders beat the Stars 3-1 Thursday in the winner's bracket final, but St. Agnes ousted Ensworth to earn a rematch. The Stars cruised to a quick 25-13 win in the opener, then rallied for a 25-23 win in game two. After the emotional second-game setback, Baylor fell 25-19 in game three to surrender the championship.
The Lady Red Raiders, who were chasing their third state title in program history, finish the season 41-8 overall.
