McMinn County's Property Assessor Jerry Anderson has resigned from office nearly two weeks after he was indicted and arrested on two counts of theft and one count of official misconduct.

At a special called meeting November 1st for County Commissioners, the position will be declared vacant. Commissioners will choose an interim who will serve until the next election, September 1, 2014.
Anderson is scheduled to appear in court Monday, November 4th.
Law enforcement were out on the roadways making sure it was a safe Labor Day holiday for everyone.
