RINGGOLD, Ga. (WRCB) -- In the moment of truth, Dare Schley delivered.
The Ringgold freshman catcher drove in all of her team's runs, including the final three on a go-ahead home run in the top of the seventh, to send the Lady Tigers back to the Class AAA Elite Eight with a 4-1 win over visiting Jackson County Thursday afternoon.
The two teams had split a doubleheader Wednesday in the second round of the state bracket, setting up a win-or-go-home game three with a ticket to next week's championship in Columbus. Ringgold finished state runner-up there a year ago.
In addition to the game-winning homer, Schley delivered an RBI-double in the top of the third for Ringgold's first run of the game. Devan Brown had two hits and scored on both of Schley's big hits.
Abby McKinney went the distance in the circle to hold Jackson County in check. She also teamed with Mary Beth Lance and Schley to turn a stunning double play in the bottom of the sixth that threw out a runner at second and another at the plate to keep the game knotted at 1.
The Lady Tigers will join Northwest Whitfield, Heritage, Dade County, Calhoun and Gordon Lee in Columbus next week to play for a Georgia state softball championship.
