Channel 3 Eyewitness News Anchor Callie Starnes and her husband Brian are now the proud parents of a baby boy. Brody was born at 12:23 a.m. Thursday, October 24. He weighs 7 pounds 1 ounce and is 19.5 inches long.

This is the first child for Callie and Brian. They moved to Chattanooga in 2008 and are originally from the Atlanta area.

During the pregnancy, Callie blogged about her journey to motherhood.

Here is the first entry on April 25 when she announced the big news.

I am pregnant.

Those are words I still haven't gotten used to saying, but the secret is out!

It's been a hard secret to keep. Everything they tell you is true. You will feel like you have a stomach virus in there, not a baby.  Yep, that's true. You will need a nap after things as simple as blow-drying your hair. That one is also true. You will become one with the saltine cracker. Right again. They have taken up residence on my nightstand. But, perhaps the hardest part of being pregnant so far has been acting like I wasn't pregnant at all. So, while it's still strange to say, it is also good to be able to say … I'm pregnant! J

My husband and I could not be happier. My family is ecstatic. My friends are too.  It's probably because most of them are having babies. Seriously, three of my closest girlfriends are expecting. I think they are also extremely eager to see how I transform into a mommy. My experience with babies is quite limited. By limited I mean I changed a diaper once in middle school when I was a youth helper in the nursery at my church. So, needless to say this is going to be a learning experience.

I know I'm not the first to have a baby. I certainly won't be the last. For the moms ahead of me on this journey – I look forward to hearing your stories. For the moms to come – maybe there's something I can learn and share with you.

D-day (due day) is "supposed" to be October 19th. Seems like an eternity. At the same time it seems like it might sneak up on me if I'm not careful. I do know one thing for sure … I am blessed. I can't wait to meet this little person who is driving me to the saltines.

Until then, this baby gets to go along for the ride. It has already been on crime scenes, to city council meetings, and been witness to some pretty incredible stories. And it's only the beginning. What a ride it will be. Thanks for coming along.

On the journey (to motherhood),
