Cold weather, hard freeze expected tonight

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Good Thursday! Expect more chilly weather as cloud cover and northwest breezes flow over the Tennessee Valley most of the day. Highs only reach into the 50s area-wide so grab a coat as you head out the door and leave a few extra minutes to defog/defrost your vehicles. Tonight skies clear and winds become light, so much more frost forms as temperatures drop closer to freezing. You'll need extra time again to warm up your vehicles.

Friday looks sunny with highs in the 50s again and temperatures fall to near freezing again late Friday night with frost forming. You'll definitely need a coat at your high school football games. Maybe gloves and a scarf, too, just to keep extra warm! Fair skies continue this weekend as highs get warmer in the lower and middle 60s. Lows also get a little boost into the lower and middle 40s with the threat of frost leaving the region.

Early next week as plenty of sunshine hangs around our highs climb back to the more seasonable lower 70s with normal lows in the middle to upper 40s. Spotty showers possible next Wednesday.
