Cold weather bringing frost / freezing temps to the area

Posted: Updated:

Good Wednesday.  We already have a Frost Advisory in effect for most of our area for Thursday morning.  There is even a Freeze Warning for parts of the Blue Ridge Mtns for tonight.

A front passing through will clear out the skies of any cloud cover.  It will also bring in breezy northwest winds this afternoon.  Winds will blow at 10-15 mph.  That will transport in the much cooler air.  The high today will reach only 58 degrees, and that will be early in the day.

Temps will be dropping through most of the afternoon.  We will drop into the low to mid 30s tonight.

The high Thursday will reach the low 60s, and we can expect some clouds as another weak front approaches.  It will bring in more cold air Friday and Saturday.  The low Saturday morning will be near 30 degrees!

After Saturday morning, we will begin a warm up that will last for a while.  Highs will climb into the 40s and highs into the upper 60s next week.

(WRCB) - Good Saturday. While we have seen a few light sprinkles this morning, the bulk of the rain stayed east and south of the area, and I think that will continue to be the case. For the rest of the day we can expect mostly cloudy skies with a high today of 74. We will see our winds increasing behind the front to 10-20 mph from the northeast.Tonight, the winds die down, and we will see some clearing heading through the overnight.More

Parts of the area remain under Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings. I don't think we are looking at any widespread problems this morning, but patchy areas of frost are certainly possible, especially in the Blue Ridge.More
