Fire destroys family's home and belongings

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

A family of 6 is without a place to live after a fire destroyed their home and everything inside.

Emergency crews arrived to Tunnel Boulevard early Sunday morning after a neighbor called saying they could see flames shooting through the roof.

Officials believe the blaze may have started in the laundry room and then quickly spread to the attic.

Everyone inside escaped unharmed.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.  Estimated damages are $20,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    Four teens were inside a vehicle that hit and killed 57-year-old Bryan Bartley while he was mowing grass on Thursday evening. Three teens also died in the tragedy. Alexis Pinson survived the crash and is improving, friends say. More

    The TBI has been called in to investigate after a woman's body was found floating in the Hiwassee River in Polk County.West Polk Fire Chief Steven Lofty tells Channel 3 someone spotted the body and called 911 around 4:15 Saturday afternoon.There is no word on the woman's age or identity. Lofty says there are no known active missing persons cases in Polk County involving a female. The woman's body is being transported to the TBI Crime Lab in Nashville for an autopsy.More
