The Tennessee Department of Transportation wants motorist to see loud and clear up-to-date traffic fatalities that happen through out the state.

They are hoping the alarming data will impact drivers that get behind the wheel to slow down, pay attention and buckle up.

Recent statistics reveal the total number of fatal accidents that occurred across Tennessee roadway's claimed 813 lives by the end of December last year. 

Numbers pulled this week reveal this year's numbers almost match the same amount and we still have over 70 days before we approach the new year.

Bob Van Horn at TDOT says, you have a responsibility as a driver in the state of Tennessee to operate your vehicle in a safe manner.

TDOT officials want motorist to stick to the "basic safety precautions." Jennifer Flynn says, don't multitask, put the phone down, don't drive distracted and don't drink and drive."
