Chattanooga makes list of top places to retire on $75 a day
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -
It's no surprise Chattanooga is a great place to live, and according to a US News and World Report, it's also a great place to retire.
Chattanooga made the list of the greatest places to retire on $75 a day.
U.S. News analyzed recently released 2012 Census Bureau data to determine the best places to retire for cheap. Among the factors were housing costs and places where retirees spend less than a third of their income on housing.
Chattanooga made the list thanks to its low rent costs and cost of living. Retirees spend just $644 in rent, $1,023 in mortgage payments or $353 monthly without a mortgage on average. The city also offers buses that seniors 65 and older can ride for only .75 cents. In addition, the city has ample outdoor opportunities and activities.
A number of other Southern cities made the list including Augusta, GA; Louisville, KY; Little Rock, AR; and Greenville, S.C.
