UPDATE: Juvenile charged in school vandalism

Posted: Updated:
Englewood, McMinn County, TN -

We're learning more about the minor facing multiple charges for allegedly vandalizing Englewood Elementary School.

The McMinn County Sheriff's Department has identified an 11-year old, who authorities say admitted to breaking in and causing the damage last week.

The boy allegedly set fire to a chair in the boiler room of the school. There was damage throughout the building.

A fire extinguisher was taken off the wall, and used to break a flat screen TV, the office lounge was trashed.

Police say the boy is a former student, and is now being home schooled.

He faces burglary, arson, vandalism and, potentially, theft charges.

Since he is a juvenile, he was not arrested.
