Tennessee Senator sends fundraising pitch from wrong email

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee State Senator Stacey Campfield hoped to garner attention with a fundraiser involving Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey. Campbell got attention, but not necessarily the kind he wanted.

The Tennessean reported (http://tnne.ws/17Co4JE ) that Campfield, a Knoxville Republican) sent out the email touting the Oct. 22 event in Nashville, but used his legislative account. That's generally considered a no-no under campaign finance laws.

The mistake came just a week after Campfield's aide was fired for working in Knoxville when he was supposed to be in Nashville, a violation of statehouse rules.

Campfield admitted the mistake quickly. Thirteen minutes after sending the original message, he sent a follow-up message asking recipients, "Please disregard the previous email. It went out on my wrong account."
