RiverRocks games end with duathlon at Enterprise South

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Enterprise South was taken over by more than a hundred athletes Sunday as a part of RiverRock's duathlon . Its one of the last events in the nearly two week long sporting competition throughout the Scenic City.

"Now its really seeming to spread participants all over the country or all over the world," organizer Randy Whorton says.

In the duathlon athletes took off on a two mile trail run through the woods. Then they grabbed their mountain bikes and it was off on the trails for a ten mile ride.

Leading the pack was Barnabas Froystad, he finished first all around. "I just knew I had to go fast. An hour is not that bad to hurt so I just tried to keep on the gas as hard as I could," Froystad says.

Sarah Buckler was the first woman to cross the finish line. "It was really cool because there was just a bunch of guys around me, made me feel really strong," says Buckler.

Organizers say the RiverRocks games continue to bring in more athletes from around the world and the competition has steadily grown every years.
