CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The City of Chattanooga's official government website is being praised by Internet industry website,

Gizmodo lists Chattanooga among the seven cities that designed "surprisingly great websites." The City Council voted 6-2 back in 2011 to pay $328,000 to local firm Maycreate to redesign its site.

Former Councilman Manny Rico said in 2011, "We're a progressive city and we need to have a first class website."

Joining Chattanooga on the list featured by Gizmodo this week are New York, Philadelphia, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Milwaukee. Chattanooga is by far the smallest city featured.

The review of by Gizmodo notes a "nice tilt-shift city portrait, a logo using the city's official typeface Chatype, and a clean, clutter-free interface."
