The property tax rate in Marion County will remain the same despite some strong opposition.
The 2013-2014 budget was approved by the county commission this week, keeping the property tax rate at just over $2 per $100.
Commissioner Tommy Thompson -- who voted no to the measure -- argued the rate should be lowered because of the county's balanced funds.
Thompson criticized the budget's lack of funding for volunteer fire departments, and the addition of three new county employees.
The county is working with a robust fund of almost $7 million.
The 40-year-old was missing for several days, causing his family worry.
