Ooltewah completes unblemished dominance of 5-AAA
OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WRCB) --
Sloan Sullivan and Courtlyn Ison combined for 20 kills to help Ooltewah cap a dominant run through district play with a 3-1 win over Soddy-Daisy in the 5-AAA tournament final Wednesday night at Ooltewah High School.

With wins of 25-21, 25-19, 13-25 and 25-21, the Owls (41-10) completed an unbeaten season against district opponents and claim 5-AAA's top seed and home-court advantage for next week's region tournament.

Despite winning the opening set, Ooltewah appeared to be in trouble after falling behind 15-0 in the second. That's when Sullivan stepped up to turn the tide, serving 13 consecutive points, including five aces, to get the Owls back on track. They went on to win the set 25-19 for a commanding 2-0 lead.

The Trojans avoided a sweep by closing the third set on a 13-1 run, but were the opposite end of the deciding run in the fourth. Trailing 15-12, Ooltewah responded with a 10-1 run to secure the title-clinching win.

Ison, the district's regular season co-MVP, finished with 11 kills and four blocks en route to tournament MVP honors. She and Sullivan, who finished with nine kills and 18 digs, made up a third of Ooltewah's six all-tournament team selections.

Haley Reynolds' eight kills led a balanced Soddy-Daisy (41-17) attack. Abby Walker added seven while Hannah Robertson fueled the defense with 37 digs.

5-AAA All-Tournament Team: Marissa Langford (Cleveland), Kellee Geren (Cleveland), Meredith Stott (East Hamilton), Kris Joo (East Hamilton), Emma Lenoir (East Hamilton), Chloe Mitchell (Soddy-Daisy), Lauren Smith (Soddy-Daisy), Hannah Robertson (Soddy-Daisy), Karigan Fulghem (Soddy-Daisy), Hanna Matthews (Ooltewah), Sloan Sullivan (Ooltewah), Alex Biro (Ooltewah), Josie Cain (Ooltewah), Sidney Killingsworth (Ooltewah), MVP -- Courtlyn Ison (Ooltewah).

Boyd-Buchanan sweeps CSAS to win 5-A tournament title
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) --
Kristen Reynolds finished with 13 kills and dished out 14 assists to claim MVP honors and help Boyd-Buchanan clinch the District 5-A tournament title with a 3-0 sweep of visiting Arts & Sciences Wednesday night.

The Lady Bucs (27-13) claimed wins of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-23 to earn the district's top seed in next week's region tournament at Sale Creek.

Boyd-Buchanan scored the first six points of the match and eventually built a double-digit lead en route to an easy win in the opening set, but had to stave off Lady Patriot rallies over the next two. The Lady Bucs scored six of the final seven points to survive in the second set, then rallied from a seven-point deficit in the third set to clinch the title.

Brooke Mitchell's eight kills paced the CSAS offense.
