Two juveniles charged with setting Brainerd area fires

EAST BRAINERD, TN (WRCB) -

Two male juveniles suspected of setting a string of fires in the Brainerd area in September are facing arson and weapon charges.

The fires started in September 2013, when several cars were set on fire along Brainerd Road. Other small fires were set in vacant houses, a shed and some porches. No was reported to be injured during the fires.

Chattanooga Fire Investigators tell Channel 3 both boys were officially charged on Monday. The 12-year-old was charged with one count of arson and 6 counts of setting fire to personal property. The 13-year-old was charged with one count of arson.

Captain Anthony Moore with the Fire Investigation Division said both boys also face a prohibited weapons charge, for making what is commonly known as a Molotov cocktail.
