One person is dead following a shooting in Lafayette, Monday night.
It happened around 8:30p.m. on Old Dalton Road.
When Walker County deputies arrived they found a 63-year-old Roy Leonard McKeehan of Lafayette dead. He appeared to have a possible gunshot wound and trauma to his head and neck area. The exact cause of death will be
determined pending autopsy results.
Upon further investigation it was discovered a male and female subject had left just before officers showed up. That vehicle they were in was located in Chattooga County, Georgia. When officers attempted to make contact, the driver led them on a chase into Cherokee County, Alabama.
Authorities in Alabama say the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed. When officers approached the vehicle, the suspect appeared to have a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was
pronounced dead at the scene.
He is identified as 35-year-old Daniel Chad Marks of Lafayette.
The female passenger was unharmed. She was taken in for questioning.
