Arts and Crafts festival raises $5K for local community center

Posted: Updated:

The weather held up for most of the day for the 41st Annual Hodge Podge Arts and Crafts Festival.

Several community members as well as over 30 local venders set up and displayed their homemade creations, artwork and designs.

A portion of the sales and proceeds will be put towards revamping Signal Mountain's Arts and Community Center.

"It's housed in the old Signal Mountain Elementary building. We are raising funds because that building needs a lot of TLC," said Dawn Skowro, Event Director.

$5,000 was raised over weekend and that will go towards roof repairs, painting and fixing up the old structure.

The facility's director says the historic building sees around 36,000 visitors a year where they host art classes, concerts, and other various other gatherings.
