Heavy rain and storms this evening

Posted: Updated:

(WRCB) - Good Sunday.  Get your outdoor stuff done early today.  Only 3 things are certain in life... death, taxes, and rain this evening.

We have 2 features that will impact our weather in the coming week.  The first is Tropical Depression Karen which is taking a much more southerly track now.  Karen will get absorbed by our second feature, an approaching front, and some of that moisture will get pulled up into the Tennessee Valley.

Ahead of the front we will have cloudy skies today with one or two isolated storms possible ahead of the main line.  Highs today will reach the low to mid 80s.

The main line of rain and storms will press through between 5pm and 9pm.  It will bring us 1"-2" of rain widespread with 3" possible in some isolated spots.  The main threats from these storms will be gusty winds and small hail.  While no tornadoes are expected, we will, of course, be watchful.

The rain will taper off overnight.  By Monday morning, we will have cooler and breezy weather beginning to filter in behind the front.

Winds will blow from the northwest at 10-15 mph, and temps will  stay in the low 70s.

While the winds will subside Monday night, the temperatures will stay comfortable in the 70s all week.  No rain is in the forecast after tonight.
