Snakes at Brainerd High School

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Parents expressed concerned after their children came home with pictures of snakes they saw inside Brainerd High school and a few of them surfaced on Facebook.

The assistant principal Dr. Charles  Mitchell said, "I don't have time to address concerns that community members discussed."

Over the past month parents and teachers met every Thursday evening near the Foxwood Plaza. Many spoke out saying, "school officials were made aware of the issue and didn't do anything about it."

Veranda Barnett said, " Children don't deserve that. The principle knows and needs to fumigate or have a professional come out."

Off camera - several current employees say;" it's no secret among staff that snakes and even rats have been spotted in the building. Over the summer a snack machine was removed after candy wrappers inside it were ripped open.  Many of us saw rats and their droppings near it."

Brainerd High School principal Uras Agee said, " I don't want bad press. No comment."
