Staying warm in the Tennessee Valley

Posted: Updated:

Good Thursday! High pressure continues to dominate our weather today but a small disturbance moving through the Tennessee Valley this morning may produce a few more spotty showers. Otherwise expect partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures again. The normal high for Chattanooga for today is 78 degrees, but highs should reach the middle 80s this afternoon. Friday and Saturday are dry and fair with continued warmth. Highs reach the middle 80s with lows in the lower 60s.

On Sunday a cold front will approach the region. This will kick off our best chance for showers this week and possibly a thunderstorm.  There could also be a tropical system moving in from the Gulf of Mexico but most of the heavy, widespread rain may stay well east of us. So rain amounts may be less than originally anticipated. Nothing is for sure yet as the system in the Gulf has not yet developed fully. Once it does then we will have a better handle on the amounts for Sunday and Monday.  Sunday's and Monday's highs will back off into the 70s and we should dry out beginning Tuesday.
