MANCHESTER, Tenn. (WRCB) -- A pair of local standouts started strong at the TSSAA state golf championships.

Now they'll try for a similar finish.

Chattanooga Christian's Lake Johnson and Notre Dame's Alex Riddle are atop the leaderboard halfway through the boys' 36-hole championship at WillowBrook Golf Club.

Johnson shot a 4-under 68 in Tuesday's opening round and leads Riddle by one shot. A trio of golfer's are tied for third at 2-under 70.

Riddle's round of 3-under 69 helped Notre Dame shoot 309 as a team. The Irish are currently second entering Wednesday's final round, 13 shots behind first-place Alcoa.

Johnson's CCS teammate, Scott Stevens, is also in the top ten as an individual. Stevens is tied for eighth at 1-over. Both Chargers are playing as individuals.

Boyd-Buchanan is currently fourth as a team in the girls' state tourney. The Lady Bucs were led by Madison Balthrop's opening round 82, which has her tied for tenth as an individual. Teammate Lauren Foster is two shots back.
