Camp and Hatcher Win Big in Southern 175 Series Championship

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The Southern 175 Series held their yearend Classic Championship this Sunday, September 22, 2013, out of Chester Frost Park on Chickamauga Lake.

The team of Rick Camp and Jamie Hatcher caught a five-bass limit weighing 22.84 pounds to win first place and a fully rigged Tracker Pro Team TXW 175 boat. The boat provided by Island Cove Outdoor Center has a retail value of $17,000.

The duo also took over-all big-fish honors with a giant largemouth bass weighing 8.68 pounds which earned them $500. They also received the highest finishing Tow Boat U.S. member award which netted them an extra $500.

Camp said "We caught our limit real quick this morning on topwater baits but our better fish came flipping a jig under boat docks later in the day."

Anthony Correll and Joseph Shadrick were the overall 2013 Southern 175 Series Point Champions. For their effort this season they received point champions plagues and a new Power Tech Prop furnished by Tim Hackney at Performance Propeller Inc.

Hubert Hall and Andy Lusk won the Soddy Custom Tackle Big Fish of the Year award and $500 with a largemouth bass that weighed 8.43 pounds.

Tim Patterson was the lucky recipient of the Beef Eater Grill draw prize furnished by U.S. Stove Company.

Only boat owners that have 175 hp. engines and below on their boat are eligible to fish the Southern 175 Series.

Tournament organizer Tim Thornbury says, "This tournament trail was designed to level the playing field for angler's who do not have the bigger horse power boats which are common place in today's bass tournaments."

Rounding out the top 5 places:
1st – Rick Camp and Jamie Hatcher with 22.84 lbs., good for a fully rigged Tracker Pro Team TXW 175 Boat (Valued at $17,000)
2nd – Carter Day and Ron Willerson with 20.62 lbs., good for $500
3rd –  Steve Everett and Melanie Everett with 18.24 lbs., good for $400
4th – Anthony Correll and Joseph Shadrick with 17.42 lbs., good for $300
5th – Chris Coffey and Nick Pratt with 16.22 lbs., good for $200
