The McMinn County Sheriff's Office is pleased with a recent decline in the number of meth lab cases.
"No reports have been filled since August 20th," boasted McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy.
Guy credits team work and the county's DARE Program educating the youth.
An aggressive plan was put in place three years ago, after an alarming number of meth lab reports and arrests were made in McMinn County.
In December 2010, Tennessee ranked as one of the top states in the nation for meth labs.
In 2010 there were 2,000 labs seized and 161 labs reported in McMinn County alone.
Noel Shurg says the meth problem has hit close to home.
"It made me nervous and I had trouble sleeping at night," he told Channel 3, referring to a home across the street that is home to what he calls suspicious activity.
"I am happy they are making progress cleaning up our community," he said. "I've noticed the difference."The McMinn County Drug Task Force says it's important for community members to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhood to help them continue the mission of cleaning up the community.
