Band of the Week: Calhoun High School

Posted: Updated:

Calhoun High School Director of Bands Michael Clark has been at his post for 35 years. His hard work and consistency is really paying dividends in this years group! At 271 students, the Pride of Georgia's Northland is larger than it has ever been. Mr. Clark says it is a great, hard-working group, and with just about 33 seniors, they should only get better in the years to come.

Having taken a trip to Orlando, last year, the Marching Yellow Jackets are staying home this year, raising funds to replace a number of uniforms. If you would like to help, call Calhoun High School and ask for the band room.

This years half-time show opens with the old Spanish tune, "Spirit of the Bull." Style changes next with Earth, Wind, and Fire's "let's Groove Tonight," "Johnny B. Goode," and the closer by Elton John, "your Song."

Good luck to the Pride of Georgia's Northland, The Calhoun High School Marching Yellow Jackets, as they head into competition at the Armuchee Invitational this month and thanks for being our Band of the Week!
