A mother and her boyfriend are going before a judge today on charges they murdered her young son.

Jessica Robbins and Bradley Adcox are both charged with first degree murder and aggravated child abuse in the death of her son, 5-year-old Landon Robbins.

Landon was found dead in his Spring City home August 30th. His mother, 24-year-old Jessica Robbins and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Bradley Adcox will go before Judge James Mckenzie today for a preliminary hearing.

Both were assigned public defenders at their arraignment September 6 at the Rhea County Jail.

"You're charged with aggravated child abuse, neglect, endangerment with a child under 8 and first degree murder," Judge Mckenzie said to Adcox.

Neither appeared emotional, just kept their heads down through most of the arraignment process, and spoke quietly.

"Do you understand what you're charged with," Judge Mckenzie asked Robbins, she said yes.

Landon Robbins was found dead inside a camper-home in Spring City, where Robbins and her three children had just moved in with Adcox a few weeks earlier. Landon Robbins' biological dad and granddad live in Roane County.

"Anybody that would take a poor little innocent 5-year-old boy and do the things they did to him, there's no forgiveness for that kind of people," Landon's grandfather said.

Rhea County detectives say Jessica Robbins called 911 August 30th, saying her little boy wasn't breathing and her CPR attempts didn't work. First responders found Landon lying unresponsive on a make shift bed in the living room. The couple claimed Landon's injuries were from falling into a swing set in the yard the night before. Detectives say many injuries were not consistent with that story. They say the preliminary autopsy lists the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

Channel 3 Eyewitness News will have a crew at today's preliminary hearing and will bring you the latest developments in the case online and on air.
