Whether you hear them in the stands or on the field, this year, the marching band form Soddy-Daisy High School will likely have you singing and moving along to the music.
The group of around a hundred students is performing a halftime show they call "Flashback Friday." It includes songs you will remember, like: "Shake a Tail Feather" by Ray Charles and "Dancing Machine" by the Jackson 5.
They close with a familiar tune from the modern era: "Ain't Nothin' Wrong with That" by Robert Randolph and the Family Band. And, to get warmed up, the night we visited, the band played "Hang on Sloopy" in the stands, just for the Channel 3 camera!
It is a talented group with members who are, on top of marching season, honing their concert skills for an October trip to Nashville. The concert band will perform at the convention for the National Association for Music Education, next month. Director Eric Majors knows they will represent their school and their community well!
Our thanks to him and the students at Soddy-Daisy!
