Construction on hold to prepare for Battle of Chickamauga

Posted: Updated:

City officials in Georgia are ironing out all the last minute details getting ready for the 150th Battle of Chickamauga reenactment.

Chickamauga's city manager John Culpepper isn't too concerned that construction plans have been temporarily placed on hold to build the RV park in time for September's historic event.

"Tourist and locals wanting to park there campers will have many other options," he says.

The 150th Battle of the Chickamauga re-enactment is now less than two weeks away. Crews are working seven days a week on the Mountain Cove property.

They are finishing the pavilion, removing the corn husks and cleaning up the walking and biking trails.

The flat piece of land directly across from where the festivities will take place is now available for campers to park.  This prime location has been set aside to fit up to 100 campers if the RV park is not complete by September 15th.
