Local football player wears jersey in honor of special teen

MARION COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

Nearly nine months after her death, Kennedy Griffith is still being remembered as a real Marion County Warrior.

This year, in remembrance of such a special teen, one Marion County High School Student is letting her legacy live on, through him.

Director of Schools and Kennedy's Father, Dr. Mark Griffith says Junior, Blake Zeman took it upon himself to honor his daughter.

He tells Channel 3 he is doing it by wearing the number one jersey and has dedicated the season entirely to Kennedy.

Kennedy grew up with many of the students at Marion County High School and Griffith says he and his family have been overwhelmed by the amount of support from the community and know that Kennedy would be thrilled to know she is being remembered.

"We're proud for her, to still continuing the legacy and folks remembering her the way that they are. We're a proud family and we're very appreciative," said Griffith.

Griffith says he is proud to have such a fine athlete wearing the jersey in honor of his daughter.
