Chattanooga Ironman registration opens Wednesday

Registration for the Ironman competition in Chattanooga will open Wednesday, September 4.

Athletes will compete in a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run on a course that utilizes a variety of Chattanooga's scenic areas.

The race will start at the Tennessee River. The 112-mile bike course will be made up of a 56-mile, two-loop course with scenic farmland and mountain views. The two and a half loop 26.2-mile run course will go through downtown Chattanooga, the South Side, Riverview and the North Shore.

The first place prize will be $25,000. Additionally, the race will offer 50 age group slots to the 2015 IRONMAN World Championship taking place on Oct. 10, 2015 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

The registration fees for general entry is $650 USD and for the IRONMAN Foundation Entry $1,300.
The race will take place September 28, 2014.
