Man arrested for multiple attacks on women

DALTON, GA (WRCB) -

Dalton Police arrested a man on multiple charges of sexual assault and kidnapping.

Police say they arrested 20-year-old Javier Valdez Rodriguez on two counts of battery, sexual battery, indecent exposure, and criminal attempted kidnapping.

Police say Rodriguez was involved in three separate incidents in June and August.

Police say on June 14, a woman reported she was on Walnut Avenue when a man pulled up in a dark Honda around 9:30 p.m. The suspect yelled at her to stop, got out and tried to grab her. The victim screamed for help and hit the suspect who then fled.

On June 17, police say a woman was walking through a parking lot at the Underwood Lodge apartments on Underwood Street around 10 p.m. She says a dark colored Honda drove past. She came out of a store later and noticed the same car parked in the parking lot of the La Providencia store. The suspect asked her if she had a cigarette. When she answered, she noticed his penis was out. She turned to run and says he chased after her and tried to grab her. She screamed and he got back in his car and fled.

On August 23, a woman was walking in the area of Beechland Street around 10 p.m. She says the suspect drove up and asked her if she needed a ride. When she said no, he insisted and got out of the car and tried to force her inside. She managed to get away, but her shirt was torn.

One of the victims was able to get the tag number and report it to investigators. Thursday, detectives tracked down Rodriguez. He was interviewed and placed under arrest.
