Good Thursday. If you can put up with the heat and humidity through Labor Day, you will be rewarded with much cooler and drier air by the middle of the week.
Let's first focus on the heat and humidity. Today's high will reach about 94 degrees, 6 degrees above normal. The heat index will be near 100.
A weak front will drape down from the north to spawn an isolated shower or storm during the afternoon drive today. They will be very spotty, though, and most of you will not see any rain at all today.
Friday will be about the same, muggy...isolated afternoon storm...highs in the low 90s.
Temps will stay in the low 90s this weekend, though I expect more widespread showers and storms both Saturday and Sunday.
A fairly strong front will begin to approach the area Monday, and we may see some scattered showers for the first part of Labor Day before we clear out in time for the cookout after a high of 90.
Behind the Labor Day front, much cooler weather will gradually settle in, and we could see temps in the low 80s with lower humidity by the middle of next week.
