Man robs Knoxville bank with fake bomb

KNOXVILLE, TN (WRCB) -

The FBI and is looking for a man who robbed a Knoxville bank Saturday afternoon.

Investigators say the man entered the Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) Federal Credit Union just after 11 a.m. He threatened he had a bomb, displayed a note and demanded money.

He left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money and left a package behind.

The KPD Explosive Ordinance Disposal team responded and determined the package was a hoax device.

Witnesses say he was a white male in his mid-twenties, approximately 5'7" to 5'9" tall, weighing approximately 150 to 160 pounds with a slender build, dirty blond hair, and having unkempt, unshaven facial hair. The suspect was wearing a black tee shirt, black shorts, and a camouflage baseball-style hat.  

A reward is being offered for any information which leads to the arrest of this individual.  Anyone with information is asked to please call the Knoxville FBI at 865-544-0751 or KPD at 865-215-7212. 

This matter is being jointly investigated by the FBI SSTF and KPD Major Crimes Unit.
