A break in rain shows of the beauty of the Scenic City

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

It's a picture perfect day in Coolidge Park Sunday, not a cloud in the sky. It's a drastic difference from the recent wet weather.

It has rained in parts of Chattanooga the last five of seven days. So far this year the Scenic City has seen more than 54 inches of rain. Typically, Chattanooga sees about 52 inches of rain in an entire year.

So on sunny days like Sunday, outdoors is where the Dubose family wants to be.

"I love that its beautiful blue skies and not a lot of humidity. So it's a gorgeous way to spend a Sunday morning," says Shelly Dubose.

Originally from Nashville, Dubose says she now understands why everyone loves Chattanooga.

"We lived in Colorado for 14 years and so I feel like this has that Colorado feel in many ways. People want to be outside and enjoying the weather," Dubose says.

However, people better take advantage of the break in rain because more wet weather is in the forecast for later this week.
