Bikers raise money for spina bifida

Posted: Updated:

Local riders put on a big charity event Saturday to help children born with spina bifida.

It was quite the scene at American Motorcycles in Chattanooga.

All the proceeds raised will be put in a fund to help families that can't afford medical treatment at the Walter Boehm Birth Defects Center.

The event had everything from a live band, barbecue pit, silent auction, raffle and other fun activities.

Several bikers throughout the Tennessee Valley were in attendance to show their support.

"My son was born with it and  always has something going on a doctors appointment," says Julianna Joel, event organizer.

The group is planning another charity fund raising event sometime in mid September.
