Suspicious activity catches eye of on-duty officers

Posted: Updated:

Suspicious activity caught the eye of teachers, parents and the on-duty officers at two schools in Athens, Westside Elementary and City Park Elementary.

An adult male was seen circling the parking lot riding a moped. What he was driving wasn't the only detail that made the Athens Police Department want to ask him what he was up to.

He had an extra helmet and seemed intoxicated.

The 27-year-old suspect, Timothy Cooper told officers the child's mother won't communicate with him, so he went looking for her on his own.

"He wanted to talk to his daughter, but if he found her he would have taken her," said Officer Don Nation.

Officers arrested the suspect after finding a glass meth pipe in his coat pocket.

Cooper now faces two charges, driving with a revoked license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
