WALKER COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -

Major renovations and upgrades are currently underway at the local landmark Mountain Cove Farms.

Construction crews have been working around the clock to prepare for the 150th Civil War re-enactment. The four day event will take place this fall in Walker County.

Chickamauga's City Manager John Culpepper says, he believes the local economy will receive a big boost. up to a few million dollars.

That's why he thinks it's a smart idea to invest $25,000 to fix-up surrounding rental cabins, a local pub and the walking trails.

Walker County Coordinator, David Ashburn says,"the profit made will go into the general county fund.  It will help keep the property tax from going up in the future."

In addition to upgrades, a highly equipped golf cart believed to cost around $30,000 will be on standby for possible emergencies during the festival.

After the event, Walker County will use this new piece of equipment for searches and rescues.
