Mixed-use project to bring more work and play to Williamson County

FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -
A new Williamson County development could let you live, work and play within walking distance. The project promises restaurants, stores and even a park people can use without getting in the car.
The 147-acre mixed-use development called Ovation would sit one exit south of Cool Springs Galleria and not far from Nissan's corporate headquarters.
"It's obviously an exciting vision. There's a lot happening in Franklin," said city administrator Eric Stuckey.
The proposed development promises a pedestrian-friendly design with bike paths, hiking trails and even a luxury, full-service hotel.
Ovation will provide more homes to a community that's growing at a rate of more than 2,000 residents a year - something city leaders like to hear.
"We know that there are a lot of folks looking at Franklin and Williamson County. We want to make sure there are good options and opportunities for them to come here, invest and become part of the community," Stuckey said.
Developers say what's now just farmland will soon generate about $12.6 million a year in tax revenue.
"It's a great place to live, and a great place to invest and build your business. And this is just another sign of that. This is an exciting vision of what that very important intersection in our community can become," Stuckey said.
One of the neighboring projects that was expected to enhance this site was a $200 million medical center announced by Vanderbilt University.
Officials said Wednesday that particular project has been pushed back and may never happen. A spokesperson for the city of Franklin says there are so many other projects going on at that intersection right now that the loss of one should not have a tremendous impact.
