Remote Area Medical to hold free clinic this weekend
(WBIR) Remote Area Medical is celebrating a milestone as it sets up for a free clinic in Blount County this weekend.
RAM will host its 700th Expedition on August 17-18, 2013, at Heritage High School in Maryville.
The clinic operates on a "first-come, first-served basis" and will open at 6 a.m. each day. Parking is free and open to the public beginning at midnight. Patients are encouraged to show up early and be prepared for a long wait.
The following services will be available at this RAM clinic: Dental (cleaning, fillings, and extractions), Vision (eye exams, eyeglass prescriptions, and eyeglasses made on-site - as time as supplies allow), and Medical (general medical consults, women's health exams).
In a release, RAM says it "wants to thank the Greater Knoxville Area for allowing us to call this wonderful city our home, and considers the people of East Tennessee as partners in our mission to prevent pain and alleviate suffering by providing free quality healthcare services to folks in need."
This event is intended for those without medical insurance, or those who are un-insured, under-insured, unemployed, under-employed, and/or who cannot afford to pay for services.
