Tazikis new location scores a 96, but different Rafael's faces a lower score

Dining out this weekend?

The inspectors at the Hamilton County Health Department had a successful week with no failing grades at the 11 restaurants that were inspected.

According to Chief Inspector Jack Falcon, their team is now visiting private and public schools, looking at everything from the playground to the cafeteria and each classroom.

The low score of the week involves Rafael's Italian Restaurant this time it's on Ooltewah Ringgold Road. Their other restaurant on Hixson Pike was the low score last week. Remember a failing grade is anything lower than a 70.

This location got a 78 and here's why: according to inspectors, the cutting boards need replacing, ham, sausage and beef were at the wrong temperature, the freezer was dirty, food was being stored on the floor, moldy tomatoes were found and the floor itself needs a good cleaning.

The high score of the week can be found at Tazikis. It's their newest location that just opened on Gunbarrel Road. They score a 96.

Don't forget if you have a complaint about a restaurant, call the Hamilton County Health Department at (423) 209-8110.

Also, I'm getting a lot of emails sent to me about restaurant concerns. I forward those comments directly to Chief Inspector Jack Falcon who acts on your concerns.

Enjoy your meal!
