HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

The Hamilton County Sheriff's department is planning a series of sobriety checkpoints this weekend.

Officials say they will conduct checkpoints on Friday, August 16 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Areas covered will include, but are not limited to, Highway 27, Middle Valley Road, Hixson Pike, Sequoyah Road and Dallas Hollow Road.

A spokesperson with the department says the goal as always will be to reduce crashes, remove intoxicated and impaired drivers, and to save lives on our streets and highways.

Officers will be looking for impaired drivers and seatbelt violations in particular.
