Dietitian offers tips on meals that fuel young minds

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KOB) --  The first day of school is nearly here and you're probably wondering what to pack for lunch.

Clinical dietician Erin Baudino-Burgarello says string cheese, yogurt and fruit are great snacks for your kids, but remember-the most important meal is what they have before school.

"We fuel our brains definitely through breakfast," she says.

Baudino-Burgarello knows mornings can be a little hectic for parents and kids getting ready for the day. She suggests planning ahead so you don't miss breakfast.

"Creating something that is quick the night before hand: boiled eggs, a peanut butter sandwich," she said. "So that way when you're rushing out the door, you can quickly grab (breakfast)."
