Chattanooga firefighters collect food for Chattanooga Area Food Bank

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

This week the Chattanooga Fire Department conducted a food drive to benefit the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

The "Firefighters Against Hunger Campaign" kicked off Monday morning at 7:00 at the Northtowne Plaza on Highway 153. They'll were there until 6:00 p.m.

Firefighters collected non-perishable food items at any of the 19 fire stations around town all this week.

In total, they collected 1,263 pounds of food, which equals 1,052 meals and $225 in cash, which equals 1,125 meals.
